I Love You Man
September 16th, 2009Unique, awkward, and clever. I Love You Man pokes fun at the modern day “bromance” with a strong cast and witty dialogue that is sure to have you laughing throughout. Overall, I thought this movie was great. It takes the generic genre of romantic comedy which we have become so accustomed to seeing, and gives it a modern flavor all its’ own. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel have an almost surreal chemistry that really leads you to believe this could be a documentary of their friendship in real life. They have a [...]
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
September 16th, 2009“And the game is on!” Sean Connery takes charge in this graphic novel adaptation featuring multiple characters from classic novels such as, 10,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Invisible Man, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Diary of Dorian Gray! This film looks great from beginning to end, with the extensive amount of miniature and costume work they did, I can’t even imagine how much better this could have been with the visual effects technology we have now (six years later.) The actors were great, the direction [...]
Inglourious Basterds
September 16th, 2009Inglourious Basterds is certainly a Tarantino, and one of the best films of 2009! Although this film was a little more straight forward than some of his previous works, it was still an Excellent film! It delivers on everything that we have come to know and love from Quentin, including blood, shootouts, gallows humor, and the chapter approach to storytelling. As it is a ‘Tarantino” I cannot really divulge anything that you have not already seen in the trailer, but I will tell you that this film does include the uncredited voices of [...]
The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard.
September 16th, 2009This film was such a disappointment I don’t know where to begin. In my Early Thoughts & Opinions I compared this to possibly another Dodgeball, but they don’t even belong in the same category. I am a fan of most of the guys in this cast, but the script for this movie is so cliché and unoriginal their acting almost fell short of average. Honestly, I went to see this movie around 5:00pm, directly after watching District 9 at 3:00pm and the crowd comparison should have given me the hint. I have a very apparent [...]
